First Set of Shoes

A blacksmith in the livery stable across from the Rinehart Stone House.

Horses were brought to the livery stable where the "smithy" not only forged the horseshoes but often doubled as the local veterinarian. Here a blacksmith falls as the horse reacts to his first set of shoes. Vale's livery stable was located across the street from the Rinehart Stone House and can be envisioned through a likeness which stands there now.

Travelers staying at the Stone House boarded their horses at the livery stable where fresh horses we also available for the stagecoaches and freighters.

The Rinehart Stone House was built in 1872 and opened with a Grand Ball on New Year's Day, 1873. People traveled from as far away as Boise to attend this event.
